We have begun homeschooling for this year and are off to a great start. Madie is loving a structured morning filled with fun activities. I am going to try very hard to keep an accurate account of what we are doing, so that in years to come this will be very meaningful to our family.
K-3 Week 1:
(We have worked all summer on shapes and colors, so I am not making that part our introduction into K-3. I do review those with her from time to time, but why stall...let's get on with it!)
As part of our homeschool routine, I have added a few chores for her to begin with. They are very small, but a huge start to helping around the house. She does not seem to mind doing them and rarely has to be reminded to do them.
Our morning begins with:
Breakfast
Clean up breakfast dishes
Get dressed (clothes on, pjs put away, teeth brushed, working on learning to make the bed)
Bible and Activity
Letters and Activity
We will eventually add a little bit more to this schedule, but for now this is what we are working on.
This week for Bible we are studying The Story of Creation and The Story of Adam and Eve. Monday we made a "6 Days of Creation" booklet and today we colored a picture of Adam and Eve. Tomorrow we will work on trying to retell the two stories. She did great retelling me the stories today. She has already memorized Genesis 1:1 so we are working on Genesis 1:27 this week.
For the letter of the week we are learning letter "A." She is learning to identify the upper and lowercases as well as the sound of the letter and things that start with that letter. So far she is doing great!
Here are a few pictures from the first couple of days:
We had to mark the first day of Preschool!
Here's our Classroom/Kitchen
Picture on the wall soon to be replaced by a map of the world...
