Life Lessons Learned from Scar Tissue

I've been away from my dear precious family for the last few days and missing them to pieces!  My dad just recently had knee replacement surgery, so I have been Auburn since Monday helping my mom take care of him.  He's recovering well, just slow.  I see much frustration and discouragement in him when he can't do or make his body do what it's suppose to do.  His physical therapist came today and was working with him and explaining a few things about different exercises he can do to begin getting the use of his leg back.  One thing he explained to him was the way scar tissue sets in and how all the exercises would begin helping to tear and shape the scar tissue so that it would not prohibit him from using his knee as normal.  I couldn't help but think of how our experiences throughout life sometimes cause scar tissue to develop in our lives and if we do not continue to allow the Word of God to help us shape our scar tissue, our beliefs, lifestyles,  and reactions, we become conformed to the scar tissue rather than the scar tissue conforming to us.

I know a lot of people have walked harder roads than some will ever face and their experiences have caused them much heartache and pain, but I believe it's in those times that God wants to shape our hurts so that we can use them to press on.  We never function exactly the same again, but sometimes we function even better than before.
