"He didn't tell me how to live; he lived and let me watch him do it."
I read this quote earlier today as I was looking at a few things on the computer and I thought of how monumental the job of a father truly is. This responsibility is one that typically either directs children towards God or sends then running from God. A father's love is supposed to depict the love of our Heavenly Father. Statistics show that if a child of an unbelieving family comes to know Christ first that there is a 2% chance that the rest of the family will as well; if the mother is the first then there is a 17% chance that the rest of the family will come to know the Lord; but if the father is the first to come to know Christ, then there is a 93% chance that the rest of the family will come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
"Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him Father!" I also read this quote today and sat thanking the Lord for the man that the little voices in my home call "Daddy." I have two little girls who adore their daddy like a monkey enjoys a banana. Each morning after I get Madie out of bed, the first thing she wants to know...well let's be honest...is what's for breakfast! But the very next thing out of her mouth is "where's daddy?" And any of you who know my little Hannah and have spent any amount of time around her know whose name she calls repeatedly...."Daaaahddy...Daaaaahddy." I have two little girls whose hearts have been stolen by their daddy. Each afternoon before he comes home, we go into Hannah's room and pull up the blinds so they can watch out the window for daddy to come home; as soon as they see or hear his truck, Madie runs and hides and Hannah takes off running for the kitchen to greet her daddy with a big hug! Madie waits until he comes to find her and laughs and squeals when he does.
Stephen has a huge job in the days ahead trying to Father these precious girls in the way God has set before him. He has much to learn and a long way to go on this journey of Fatherhood, I mean let's face it he's having to learn to dress dolls, play tea party, be a horsey, talk gently, cuddle lots, etc. but I'll tell you one thing, I have seen such a desire in him to be an amazing daddy. He has such compassion for his two little girls and a heart to see them love the Lord with all that's in them. He is not too prideful to ask for help or direction because he so desires to succeed in leading them. He prays for them and with them with such compassion and love. I look forward to the days ahead with this man and am so thankful that he is the father of my children!
Stephen,
You are without a doubt the best daddy in the world and I am so thankful for the man that you are! I am so thankful that our girls will learn what an excellent husband and daddy should look like! You are rising to the challenge of fatherhood and are far exceeding any expectations I could have ever set! Thank you for striving to teach our girls the Truth of God's Word not only with your words but with your actions. I am so thankful that your desire is to rise above the standards the world has set for fathers and strive to meet HIS standards of a father! I love you so and so do your little stinks! Happy Father's Day my love you are remarkable!
