A two hour drive from Dothan to Auburn and then sitting for quite a few hours in a waiting room awaiting the first child of my dear friend since middle school gave me quite a bit of time to ponder the gift of life from THE Amazing Creator! On my way to Auburn, all I could think about was the nine month process of God intricately knitting together this precious little life inside the womb of the mother. As a little girl I remember thinking about what my children would one day be like; I had this beautiful picture in mind. As I got older, the picture changed a bit, however the same idea remained. As I drove yesterday I spent time wondering exactly how the Lord fashions little beings together, how He determines whether it will be a boy or a girl, whether it will be right handed or left handed, what kind of skills it will possess, what kind of personality it will have, whether it will be tall or short, etc. I kept thinking of how we think we know what we want, but the moment the doctor lays that little infant in our arms how all of that fades away and no matter what this particular child possesses in features or set backs no longer matters to us...all that matters is that they are our precious gift from the Lord and everything about them in that very moment is perfect! The feeling and desire to protect them from all harm and love them from the core of ourselves is all we know for a while. The Father's design for our children always far exceeds our imaginations and no matter what, we never look back with regret!
Amanda and I have been friends since the seventh grade and have walked through many of life's trials and celebrations together. We have been in each other's weddings and now experienced the first births of each other's children. Amanda and I have always had a very awesome and unique friendship; she is one of the most selfless, caring and sincere people I know which I believe will make her a fantastic mother!
Amanda and Christian experienced the overwhelming joy of the birth of their first child last night around 10:10. Carter James Demyan entered the world weighing seven pounds and eleven ounces, twenty one inches long. Adorable little fella with a very impressive set of pipes! After the proud daddy came in to announce the birth of his new baby boy, the family and friends that were gathered around waiting circled together to praise God for His newest little blessing! It was an awesome day of rejoicing and celebrating!

Amanda and Christian, congratulations on your son! I am so excited for you and can't wait to see the little man he becomes. My prayer for you guys is that you allow the Lord to continue shaping you in order that you can teach this little guy that there is a God who loves him and wants to save him. I pray that as the years progress, you point him daily to The Creator of all good things!
