Girl Overload- TIme for an update!

Time for an update on my three gorgeous beauties.  It's been a while since I updated my blog on their latests milestones and accomplishments.  I sat recently watching old videos of them and was reminded of how quickly they grow and how short my time with them is.  Six years of being a parent has flown and I daily live under His grace and new mercies.  Maybe when they're grown and gone I'll get this thing figured out.

So here we go, let's start youngest to oldest this time :).

My sweet little Leah Joy turned six months old this week.  She has been such an added joy to our family of girls.  Madie and Hannah just adore her and can't walk past her in a room without stopping to rub on her and give her some lovin.

Leah was a tiny six pounds when she was born; however she caught up and passed any expectations we had of how much she could, should or would weigh.  She now weighs a solid twenty pounds and is all smiles and giggles unless she's sleepy or hungry.  She is sitting up nicely, and does not appreciate any other form of playtime on the floor unless sitting.  She is incredibly fond of her paci...pardon, that was a bit of an understatement...she is a demander of the paci!  We pushed the paci really hard because she had it in her mind she was GOING to suck her thumb and I was determined she WAS NOT GOING to suck her thumb.  Say what you will, but I can chunk a paci, I can't cut off her thumb :).

Six months with this little angel has just been an absolute delight and privilege.  We are so thankful for her darling little self and all her little rolls too.  God is so so good.

My adorable and witty little Hannah Kate is three years and four months this week.  Her sweet personality has grown leaps and bounds in the last year.  She adds the humor to our family and we absolutely adore her heart melting smiles and precious giggles.

Hannah has a heart to serve others, she truly delights in being able to bring joy to another.  She loves her both of her sisters to pieces and stops at nothing to make sure they are taken care of (a bit of mother hen :).  She loves to play the role of "big sister" to Leah (even though she's only about nine pounds larger).  Often her first words when she walks into the kitchen are, "Mommy, can I help you?" She totally overwhelms my heart with the way that she loves her family.

A few of her favorite things are: Macaroni and Cheese (which she calls Mack-roni and cheese), FROZEN the movie, Clifford The Big Red Dog, Curious George, The color Pink, baby dolls, going to the park, riding her bike, going to church, helping mommy cook, helping daddy water the flowers, reading books, children smaller or younger than her, cuddling when she's sleepy, riding the four wheeler, golf cart, lawn mower, or anything that will go, her blankies, chocolate, and her family (near and far).

Funny things she says:

Until recently she couldn't say "S" at the beginning of the word so that made A LOT of things she said or sang very funny, like...
-The Itsy Bitsy Pider went up the water pout, down came the rain and washed the pider out...
- her best buddy's name is Scarlet...well we all new her as "Carlet"
-A fun game to play in the car is "I py" or "I Spy"
-What's that pell? or What's that smell?

The other day we were coming home from somewhere and Hannah asked Madie, "Madie, are finking what I'm finking?" To which Madie answered, "No.  I'm thinking what I'm thinking." Hannah replys, "Yeah, you're not finking what I'm finking, cause I'm finking what I'm finking...and now I'm finking what you're finking and I'm finking we're going to the water park."

She and I have been discussing the importance of speaking with self- controlled voices and not whining, so the other day she had been reminded of this several times and later that night I asked her, "Whose girl are you?" To which she usually replies, "Yours mommy!" But this particular night she said, "Daddy's."  I pretended to cry and act offended, and my little witty girl looked me dead in the eye without a smile and said, "Mommy, are you using your self-controlled voice or are you whining?"

One of my favorite things she does is when she thinks something is funny or she's trying to be funny she uses this over dramatic fake laugh, rocks back and fourth with her hand covering her mouth.

One of Hannah's favorite cereals is "Raisin Brown" or Raisin Bran.

She is such a fun girl and watching her grow is such a privilege.

Watching you grow each day thrills my soul sweet one!

My precious,  independent, creative and very imaginative Madie Brooke is just two short months away from turning SIX years old!!! Where has the time gone sweet girl?  Madie's determination, and imagination are what makes her go.  She adds such a fun flare to our wealth of girls.

Madie is vibrant, lively and can entertain herself for hours.  She is just as happy to play by herself as she is to play with others. She loves animals (especially puppies) and plays all sorts of make-believe as a puppy with puppies or turning her sister into a puppy.  She loves to be in charge and the maker of the rules (probably comes with being the big sister).  She loves to sing and make up songs (she has a really beautiful voice) as she plays.  I love when she thinks no one is listening and really lets loose.  She completed her first year of AWANA this year and finished her first book (I'm so very proud of her!)

A few of her favorite things: Anything puppy, animals, birthday parties, to eat (she is honestly ALWAYS hungry), singing, dancing, FROZEN the movie, the beach, going out to eat with friends on Sunday nights, wearing dresses and skirts, the color purple, being the boss, her blankie, this little stuffed dog Mrs. Pat gave her when she was two, the grape restaurant (Olive Garden), Chill Yogurt, riding her bike, AWANA (she loves being in sparks with Mrs. Alison), Bella (her best buddy in California) The National Peanut Festival (she lives all year long for this!), boiled peanuts, being with family (near and far), going to the water park, stopping to get icees... her list could go on forever!

We embarked on the journey of Kindergarten this year and the Lord has privileged me to be able to stay home and teach her.  I started the year pridefully thinking, "I have a degree to do this, I GOT THIS!"  Well, today is our last day of school and I think I cried more days than I didn't.  I have never felt more unequipped to do something (ok, maybe that's a bit dramatic).  Teaching other people's children is waaaaaay easier than teaching my own.  Through much grace and mercy from the Lord, we made it through this year...and call me crazy, but we're going to do it again next year.  I do feel a bit of a new perspective, summer break, new curriculum, and much grace and mercy again from the Lord, I'll be ready to give it another go!  Even through all the sweat and tears cried, I am still thankful that I did it and I'd do it again!

We've been in a tough season with Madie as she is getting older and her independence and the sin of selfishness collide.  We have been working to teach her Godly character as she gets older and I do believe this has been the toughest part of parenting.  Give me poopy diapers and sleepless nights any day over the heartbreak of watching my child push against me as I desperately try to pour God's Word into her heart.  God has been faithful to sustain us and has given us sweet glimpses of hope when we see her realize her sin, willfully admit to it, and truly act broken over it (so far only one or two instances of this very thing, but I'll take it!).  Parenting is no easy task and props to those of you who have finished well because intentional parenting is anything but a walk in the park!  So for now, I will continue to pray for my girl and ask the Lord's protection over her.

I recently watched a dear friend's last of three children give her life to the Lord and I rejoiced that day for her because she and her husband have been obedient in pointing their children towards Christ and now when they lay their heads down at night they can rest with the assurance that their children are covered by the blood of Christ and walking in His righteousness.  There is no greater joy for a parent than for ALL of their children to be followers of Christ!  So, this event encouraged me to press on and trust Christ!

Madie, you truly are a unique little person who keeps me on my toes, and I love every single little inch of your quirkly little self!

My three girls are each different and yet so very similar.  They enjoy one another (Leah included) and even when they are the worst of enemies, they'd still rather be the worst of enemies playing together.  I adore their friendship and pray that they will always love, encourage, and support one another as the years progress.

My prayer for you my sweet girls is that you will not resist as the Father draws you to Himself and that you will surrender your lives to Him at the earliest possible age and not look back!  I pray that you will love others and serve them as Christ did.  I pray that your hearts will be burdened for the lost and the afflicted and that you will not sit by and shake your head in sorrow for them, but that you will get your hands and feet dirty as you run to them with the news of a risen Savior who offers freedom and hope!  I pray that you will not waste your lives, resources or relationships on things or people that do not push you towards Christ and I pray that you will be the best of friends and choose to go through life together.

Girls, we love you from the tops of our heads to the tips of our toes.  We are not always the best examples and we don't always get things right, but God has promised He would be faithful to complete the work He started in us, so be patient with us as we fail and have to start over asking forgiveness.  Know that no matter how much we mess it up, we love you so very dearly!
