What a special week this is, and I am excited about teaching Madie about this awesome celebration we call Easter. I keep pondering the word "celebrate" as I think of the events that took place some two thousand years ago. I can't help but wonder how exactly I am going to explain to my three and a half year old why we "celebrate" the death of Jesus.
What more could I say...
Yesterday we read about Jesus' Triumphal Entry, and tonight we read about the dear woman who broke her precious perfume over the feet of my dear precious Savior. Madie of course misses most of the meaning of the story, but does ask good questions and makes good connections...oh how I long for the day when she will read stories like these from God's Word and be filled with love for her King!
Tomorrow we will continue learning about the days leading up to Christ's death, burial, and resurrection and I am praying that in the days to come her sweet little mind will continue to grasp little glimmers of excitement and hope as she learns about the most AMAZING event that has and will ever occur!
Madie and Hannah, I pray that one day you two will surrender your lives to THE ALMIGHTY and I pray that you will live in the fullness of Christ. I pray that you will strive for Holiness and Purity out of a passionate desire to be obedient to The Lover of Your Souls! I pray that one day the celebration Passover will be a celebration of the VICTORY YOU HAVE IN CHRIST!
"The mystery of the cross I cannot comprehend
The agonies of Calvary
You the perfect Holy One, crushed Your Son
Who drank the bitter cup reserved for me
Your blood has washed away my sin
Jesus, thank You
The Father’s wrath completely satisfied
Jesus, thank You
Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table
Jesus, thank You
By Your perfect sacrifice I’ve been brought near
Your enemy You’ve made Your friend
Pouring out the riches of Your glorious grace
Your mercy and Your kindness know no end
Lover of my soul
I want to live for You"

Beautiful! I too wrestle with how to explain the true story of Easter to my 2 1/2 year old. Soon enough they'll be old enough to understand and I guess the best thing that we can do for now is introduce them to the truth instead of just confusing them with all of the other distractions during the holidays.
