When thinking about the many roles of a "mother" I get a bit lost and overwhelmed at all the responsibilities and hats a mother wears. As a mother to two full-of-life little girls, I'm sure the hats I wear are totally different than a mother whose son is fighting overseas for our freedom, or the mother whose child may be graduating from high school or college, or the mother who doesn't actually have any biological children of her own but takes great joy and delight in being a part of the lives of all of those around her.
I believe the role of motherhood goes much further than giving birth to a child or children. Motherhood is a life filled with the desire to serve, sacrifice, love unconditionally, teach and care for people other than yourself. Motherhood is a glorious calling from the Lord that fills lives with testimony to His goodness!
Being a mother has shown me time and time again just a glimpse of the Father's love for me through my relationship to my own children. Being a mother has taught me the beauty of unconditional love through the hard times of disobedience and discipline for my children as He graciously holds the mirror in front of my face for me to see his unconditional love for me in my times of disobedience when he disciplines me. Being a mother has revealed my inadequacies and made me press further into the Word and depend more on my Heavenly Father for strength and wisdom.
As I look at my two beauties who have captured my heart and locked away the key, I thank the Lord for this privilege he granted me once three and a half years ago and then granted me once more fifteen months ago as he blessed my life with Madie and Hannah. God has used them to transform my life and shape me into someone He could use more profitably for His Kingdom. My heart's desire is to train them in righteousness, to help shape them into two godly women, to prepare them to be wives and moms, and to cheer for them as they run the race to win the prize!
I pray that through my successes and my failures they will see Christ and run with all their might towards Him. I pray that they would grab hold of the Truth that will sanctify their lives and use it to guide them. I pray that as they grow, I would be able to capture each memory and mark it as the grace of God on my life! Thank you Almighty Father for this precious gift of Motherhood, help me stay faithful to this overwhelming task!

Being a Mommy to these two is the BEST job in the whole world!
