On The Road Again...To The Creation Museum

Two short days after we returned from California we embarked on another adventure to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit the Creation Museum.  Me, Stephen, and Madie stepped on a charter bus with about fifty others from our church headed in search of learning more about God's marvelous creation from the truths of His Word that Ken Hamm and a team of others have put together by awesome visual representations.  I was torn as we pulled out of the parking lot about leaving Hannah behind yet again; but was overjoyed at the opportunity to take Madie to experience this with us since she's a bit older now and starting to understand and ask challenging questions about some of the truths we were going to encounter.

We left Dothan at 2:00 and arrived in Kentucky to spend the night at MIDNIGHT!  My tired little girl had been asleep the last three hours before we arrived, so when we started getting off the bus she began greeting everyone with, "Good Morning...".  Oh me, this tired mama was ready for bed and my child thought it was morning...sigh.  After we got settled into our rooms, we put her to bed and she did eventually fall back asleep...THANK YOU LORD, YOU ARE SO GOOD!  The next morning was an early one, but we arose with great anticipation of what we were going to see and experience so it wasn't too awful.  We had a two hour drive to get there, so I made Madie take a nap!

The Creation Museum was more than I could take in in just a day.  I was so overwhelmed at the proclaimed truth, the visual interpretations, the movies, the descriptions, the depictions, the people, etc.  It was an amazing place created solely to point to Christ!  Madie had many questions throughout each exhibit, but the most precious moment with her was in one of the theaters when "the soldiers" were nailing Jesus to the cross and hung him up to die, she grabbed my hand very tightly and said, "Mama, he had to die for me..."tears welled in my eyes as I praised God for her tiny bits of understanding.  I think the picture of what she had in her head was different from what she witnessed on that movie and it brought a tiny glimpse of who Jesus Christ is to her!  Praise God!

After we left the museum that day, we had tickets for the RED'S game that night, so we set out for Hotel #2 for a nap and a bit of refreshment.  Later that afternoon those of us going to the game loaded the bus headed for the game.  It was an exciting experience and they played a great game.  Madie sat in just about everybody's lap that attended the game.  She was did great, but was exhausted, and towards the end of the game I saw a new form of tired in my girl...she sat and laughed this creepy little laugh at absolutely nothing over and over again.  I've never seen her do that and Stephen and I just cracked up at her!

On our way home we stopped in Birmingham and slept in Hotel #3 of our trip and got up the next morning to attend the Church of Brook Hills.  Memories came flooding back because Stephen and I had been in a wedding at this church a few years earlier and that is where we told my parents in the parking lot under a light post after the wedding was over that we were expecting our first child...Madie!     We were very excited to have another Sunday to sit in the crowd and be participant in Worshiping the Lord rather than participating by leading.  I wish I could tell you more about the service, however, I spent most of it discipling a very tired little girl.  So we sat out in the lobby in order not to disturb anyone.  Not exactly the morning I was hoping for, but that's just part of parenting...sigh.

This trip to say the least was a great one, but also quite challenging.  Riding a bus with an almost four year old for hours upon hours and getting very little sleep because of a packed schedule proved to be tough, but I couldn't have asked for Madie to do any better.  Considering the circumstances, she dealt like a champ! I was quite proud of her!!!

I hope to one day take a family trip back to the Creation Museum when the girls are bit older so that they can retain and understand a bit more.  I think it is an awesome way to teach children AND adults the AWESOMENESS of our creator in a visual way!  So thankful to have had the opportunity to go and the privilege to do it with my amazing church FAMILY!  LOGOS is truly a family and I am so thankful for the people the Lord uses to teach us, grow us, help us, challenge us, and love us!  We had a great time and look forward to other trips like this!

This exciting creature was the welcomer...

Tyson and Madie waiting with anticipation to go in.

Enjoying the excitement with two great friends.

The teenagers on this trip were such wonderful friends to my girl!

Learning about the people who dig for dinosaur bones and such.

Wonderful question to ponder...

What a satisfying answer!

Paul penning the words of God!  How exciting to even catch a glimpse at what once was!

He is not here! He has risen, just as He said; come see the place where He was lying...

I know this is hard to read but it says, "God's Word has TRIUMPHED against every ATTACK!

Wow oh wow!!! This sent chills all through my body!  It says, "Over 500 total Bible prophecies have been made and already fulfilled!

Oh my...the reality of this statement sat hard on my heart!

Thank the Lord the reality of this one will be defied in my home!

Thankful for LOGOS Baptist Church!!!

Thank you Lord for the air you give for me to take my next breath!

What a beautiful Truth!

I pray she understands that statement someday soon!

As the deer pants for the water so my soul longs after You...that is the cry of my heart for her!

Watch out Savannah, he looks hungry!

My stud made a friend...a tad too prickly for me!

Adam and Eve in the beauty of the way God created the earth to be...but look closely!

This guy was hovering overhead...isn't that just like Satan!

"Rejection of God's Word led to CORRUPTION."  Has there ever been a truer statement!

This just saddens me...

I had to explain to Madie why this part of the exhibit had scary dinosaurs...our sin changed God's perfect world...

But..."Oh Victory in Jesus!"

She was waving at the fake men who were working oh so hard!

Mr. Joe and Mrs. Pat taking in all that they could as well!

Madie and Savannah trying to wrap their little minds around the Ark and all it entailed...

Madie and Tyson...best buds!  Those Kirkland boys know how to treat little ladies...

Buds at their best here!

This wiggly bridge was loads of fun to walk on!

There is no denying that there is a marvelous Creator!

Savannah, who is fearfully and wonderfully made standing in the midst of His incredible creation.

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

What is man, that Thou dost take thought of him?  And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him...when I look at this picture I am reminded of How much more intricately He made man.

 The Wilhoit's whom we love!

His creativeness to continue to create such beautiful things overwhelms me!

Here we are...missing our fourth member...Hannah!

One of His Awesome creatures...

And another, look closely...

Check these two out!  A Zedonk, and a Zorse.  Results from the flood :)

Info here for proof...sorry it's hard to read.

Josh opted out of a little smoochy with the Zorse.

My girl loves animals...no matter how big or small!

Savannah and her daddy comparing heights with the giraffe...I think it's going to be close!

Reminders all around of Who this all belongs to!
One of my favorite Psalms nonetheless.

"Give ear, O heavens, and let me speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.  Let my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, as the droplets on the fresh grass and as the showers on the herb.  For I proclaim the name of the Lord; Ascribe greatness to our God!  The Rock! His work is perfect..."  Deut. 32

The AWESOME Kirkland Clan! Looking good!

Love this picture!

This trip brought the reality of God's creation to a whole new place in my mind, and I pray that as I learn, grow, and proclaim the Truths of God's Word, that I can somehow vividly portray how AWESOME our Creator is!
