Point them to the Cross

It's been a while since I blogged on our family blog since I have been blogging on our adoption blog; I thought this week would be an appropriate week to start back up on the family blog.  As I sit here Monday morning thinking on the events from yesterday as we remembered how just one week prior the same lips who called out, "Hosanna, Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" would shout out, "Crucify! Crucify! Crucify Him!" I can't help but feel so very convicted by my own hypocritical actions of praising Him with my lips on Sundays and marching on through out the week and being so harsh with my children and or husband, critical of those around me, and distant from my walk with God until about Thursday when I finally slow down enough to think back on my regretful behavior throughout the week.  These things are not things I'm proud of, but certainly great reminders of the grace and mercy of God's forgiveness.

We started yesterday on our Passion week calendar (we did this last year and the girls loved it) that is a great day by day reminder of the events that lead up to the victory we celebrate at Easter.  The events that lead up to Calvary are wonderful reminders that Jesus' arrest and death were not a surprise and more than that, they were part of the plan...God's plan.

Each year as I walk the girls through Passion week, their questions and their understanding grow more and more.  Yesterday after we did our Holy week calendar, Madie prayed with a greater understanding of sin than I've ever heard her express before.  She prayed with a better understanding of who she is and who Christ is.  My heart soared for hours after hearing her pray and knowing that the tid bits she gets are resonating in her heart.  Hannah asked all sorts of questions trying to make as much sense of it as possible for a three year old.  I am thankful for the Gospel!

Today, I am looking forward to sitting down with them in a couple moments (even though I have a cold that makes me feel like death warmed over) to extend our conversation from yesterday.  I am praying that God will make Himself more and more evident to them as each nugget of truth is shared with them and that when Sunday arrives they can celebrate with an even greater understanding of the RISEN CHRIST!

Happy Holy Week and Easter to you all!  May you be filled with the love of Christ and join in the celebration with the redeemed!

Next year, little sister #3 will get in on the action as well!

A video from a couple of weeks ago as we were eating breakfast...too cute not to share :)
