Overdue for an update!

Wow oh wow it has been a while!  Our lives have been on "roller coaster mode" for quite sometime now, and I just decided to ignore the household chores for a bit so that I could sit down and update my blog...they'll still be there when I finish this :)

I believe my last update was Stephen's birthday back in...August.  Well, instead of covering everything since then, I'm just going to make this blog an update of Madie...we'll get caught up sooner or later with Hannah as well.

Everything is right with the world if she can just twirl...

Madie, my precious Madie, she has been growing into a beautiful little girl this year and tears well up in my eyes when I start thinking about how fast this year has gone by and that in just a few short weeks she'll be four and a half.  Her year has consisted of many "firsts" and we have documented so many memories with her.  She is a sharp little tac with a memory like a recorder.  She doesn't forget a single thing or detail of ANYTHING which is so very scary at times, but incredible as well!  We have been watching the Lord work in her sweet little heart over the last few months in ways that overwhelm me as a parent and make me wonder what He is going to do with her life!  Her outlook on things and her desires create challenges on a daily basis for Stephen and I to continue teaching her God's Word and LIVING IT OUT BEFORE HER!  She watches and notices everything and sometimes, I'm not proud to say notices when we don't live out what we teach her, but for that I am very grateful!  She is such a joy to parent and her innocence to the world is such a refreshingly precious thing to us!  Her little personality brings so much laughter and brightness to our lives and to others as well, her concern and care for others is inspiring.  She often thinks to pray for others when we are in the middle of something or going somewhere and my mind is nowhere close to thinking thoughtful things for other people much less praying for them.  She has begun expressing a desire to be obedient to the Lord when undergoing discipline (which one day I hope her desire will be expressed without discipline) and wanting to change her ways in order to make them align with the commands of God's Word.  My continued prayer for her is that the Lord will keep her heart soft so that His Truth will penetrate it at the earliest possible age and that her life will be transformed my the Power of the Gospel!

Some funny things she has said over the last few months that I want to note for further days of laughter are:

While undergoing discipline one day for hitting her sister I explained to her as I ALWAYS do (sometimes repetition becomes frustrating when you don't feel like you're getting anywhere) that God tells Mommies and Daddies to "Drive the foolishness out of the hearts of their children" and the way He commands us to do that is with the "spanking rod" so that we will remember the next time when we start to act foolish that there are consequences for the foolish behavior of disobedience....I think I probably quote this same thing in my sleep.  So after she received her discipline I told her to apologize to her sister and then to go back and sit on her bed and think of ways she could Glorify God and Honor Mommy, Daddy, and Hannah; when I came back into the room she was looking down into her lap with her hands folded and I asked her what she was doing and with much fervency  she said, "Mommy, I want to pray and ask God to drive the 'foolish' out of my heart, cuz I don't like to get spankins!"  With tears and a smile I said, "well sure go ahead."  She preceded, "God, would you please get this 'foolish' out of me, cuz I sure don't like to get spankins.  Thank you Amen."  And with that she looked up and said, "Can I go play now?"

We have been discussing adoption in our family pretty routinely for the last few years and just the other day Madie was sitting in the bathroom and asked, "Mommy, can I have a brother?"  I responded, "well that would be great wouldn't it?  How would you like it if one day God gives you a little brother that didn't have a mommy or daddy so we became his family..." She thought about it for a minute and with all the seriousness in world said, "and we'll give Hannah back???"

Just the other night she asked me after church where she had been praying with a friend and her friend's older brothers if she could have big brothers too.  I said, "if God decides to give us older brothers who don't have a family we can, but I really don't know...maybe Evie can share her brothers with you...to which she replied, "Can I take them home and keep them?"

Ok...this one I have pondered sharing or not, but because of her innocence I just have to (please forgive me if this is too inappropriate)  The other day we were working on her cubby verse for AWANA which was..."Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life..."  Madie's Translation:  "Jesus said, I am the erection and the life..."  Needless to say, we worked for a long time on the pronunciation of the word "resurrection"

She always asks me before I walk out of her bedroom at night after we have tucked her in, "Tomorrow when we wake up, where are we going, I wanna go somewhere..."

Favorites with Madie Brooke:

"Mom, are we going to go through the 'Wash Car'?"

She can't decide which team she is devoted to, so she'll cheer for whomever she's in the mood, so the other day she decided she was a gator fan and yelled, "Go Alligators!" Haha that made me laugh!

She always say "just last night" or "yesterday" when she might me a year ago or 3 months ago...

She calls Dollar General, Dollar GENIAL

She loves to: play dress up, read books, pet dogs and cats, play with dolls or stuffed dogs, wear dresses wherever we go, talk to whoever will listen, "go somewhere",

Her favorite Songs: Christ the Lord is Risen Today (which she calls "Hallelujah"), Jesus Loves Me, Carol of the Bells, 10,000 Reasons, Behold Our God, Oh Victory in Jesus

Her favorite Movies: Cedarmont Kids Sunday School Songs, The Legend of the Candy Cane, Angelina Ballerina, Mrs. Patty Cakes, The Doughnut Man, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Olivia, Little Einsteins

Her sweet little self keeps us rolling often!  She certainly keeps our laughter tanks on full around here!

Every good and perfect gift is from the Father above...I can't think of a better description of Madison Brooke Williams..."A GIFT!"
