Merry Christmas 2012...I know, I know, a bit late!

Since one of the main reasons I'm doing this blog is for family memories and my girls when they are older, I felt it necessary to post all about our Christmas season.  I know I'm quite a bit behind, but it was such a good one it need not be passed over.

We started a few new traditions this year as we did last year and probably will continue to do for a few years down the road as the Lord continues to add to, grow, and shape our family.  The heart of Christmas as we all know is bypassed by a world consumed with greed, selfishness, and a myth of a Jolly Man who visits all who are good on Christmas Eve with lots of good things.

We are determined (although very clueless as to how) that we are going to go against the grain of culture and teach our children the reason for Christmas and all that it entails.   So this year like last, we did our Proclamation Ornaments (given to us by dear friends a few years ago) that give the Prophecy of the Messiah's coming and the fulfillment scriptures.  There is one for each day leading up to Christmas and although the girls don't understand all they hear yet, I feel certain that Christmas will have a different meaning to them as they get older than what our culture teaches Christmas to be.

We added an advent stocking to our traditions this year, which was a fun addition.  It had a pocket for each day that we put fun little activities in for that day.  Some days would be as simple as unwrapping a christmas book from under their little tree filled with wrapped Christmas books (old ones from when I was little and some they've been given), make something yummy, fun christmas activities, movies with hot chocolate and popcorn

Pictures coming soon...
